On Tuesday night, Broadway hosted our annual “Dinner with Your Teacher” event. Students, parents/guardians, and families came and enjoyed a delicious Chinese food feast with our teachers, counselor, and site assistant. We had the opportunity to get to know each other, to provide important information about Broadway’s program and events, and to answer questions. We also distributed and collected student/parent questionnaires to gain valuable feedback on their experiences with our program and suggestions as to how we can best continue to serve our students and community. It was a positive and successful event that enhanced the relationships between our site and our families, and we were all proud to be a part of it!
New Teacher Spotlight: Quanee Ross
Broadway is thrilled to welcome our new teacher Quanee Ross. Born and raised in Sacramento, Quanee has her BA in Interdisciplinary Studies and has been in the educational field for 13 years (4 of which she spent in administration and 9 years teaching). She is now Broadway’s “middle school expert”, who loves teaching middle school math and English. You can hear her positive energy and spirit coming from her classroom; Quanee is definitely making learning fun and engaging for her students! Quanee’s teaching philosophy is: “I believe in the whole child approach which all stakeholders (students, families, school, and community) working toward the long-term development of the student’s cognitive, emotional and social well-being. I stress taking responsibility and the importance of communication with all my students.” We are fortunate to have such a dedicated, creative, and experienced educator on the Broadway team!
Broadway is looking forward to hosting 2019-20 Spirit Week at the end of October. Students have the opportunity to dress up for our themed days (Sports, Mix-Match, Pajama Day, Crazy Hair/Hat) and participate in activities each day at noon. We look forward to a week of fun and games!
